P.S. Iberia’s website is a little hard to navigate at first, but they have consistently had some good prices, so do give it a try. http://www.iberia.com In the top left you need to choose “Iberia in” and pick the U.S. from the dropdown menu. Then you should be able to search for flights to and from the U.S.

Still not sure if we’re going to stop in London, but British Airways is having a 15% discount sale if you sign up for their “rewards” program at no obligation. Flights to London from LA currently about $1,100, which is pretty good for what’s out there.

We’re thinking of taking Easyjet from London to Madrid, currently about $45

    Hey everybody,

If anybody is interested British Airways has a current sale between ORD (Chicago) and BUD (Budapest) for this summer at $485 with all taxes and fees included. If someone wants to compete with us for the most convoluted trip to the wedding, they can probably make a trip to MAD (Madrid) by adding something cheap to Chicago from their hometown, and something cheap from Budapest to Madrid.

We, on the other hand, have already planned a wonderful 28hrs. marathon in 3 airlines, 4 stops, and through 4 countries, but we got it with miles, and not many of them (we are getting this with Continental miles and flights on Delta, Virgin Atlantic, and Air France, and starting in San Francisco with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, London, and Paris, before reaching Madrid, but it was available with the “cheap” miles option)…

Anyway, if someone is trying to arrange a trip with miles and needs help, I have a little program that looks for availability, so just drop me an email at enmascarado88@hotmail.com

I wish I had seen this posting before purchasing my trip in April…

Well, I didn’t get my flights with miles this time, but if we talk about how many times on a plane from the time I leave the US to the day I arrive to the wedding… Let’s see:

    1) NYC to Madrid
    2) Madrid to Cairo, Egypt
    3) Cairo to Addis Abeba, Ethiopia
    4) Addis Abeba to Lalibela (with 3 stops in between)
    5) Lalibela to Addis Abeba
    6) Addis Abeba to Cairo
    7) Cairo to Madrid
    8) Malaga to Rome
    9) Rome to Madrid
and finally getting to Toledo at some point by AVE!

then after the wedding, two more days to visit Madrid and then
    10) Madrid to Barcelona
    11) Barcelona to NYC

All these for the humble sum of $2600… I’ve majored in travel agent booking now 🙂

I wanted to posted my itinerary on the proper url but there is no “leave a comment” available.

I’m planning on leaving Madrid on Sunday June 15th and then go south to Sevilla and Granada, then taking a plane to Rome on June 18th from Malaga. It’d be great if anyone wants to join me for that part of my trip, I’m taking a train but would consider other options if there is interest in joining me.
